Walking the Coast to Coast you have the opportunity to gaze at the glorious landscapes and local wildlife as you walk, with the rugged windswept mountaintops giving you the most breath-taking vistas along endless valleys to the Lakelands below, and the best vantage points to view expanses of both open sky and land. From here you settle to walking through more comfortable rolling hills and farmland, a brief respite from the ascents and descents of previous days.

A challenging walk between the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales then await you, with its wild and untamed moorlands, again with plenty of photo opportunities for lovers of wildlife and landscape alike. Your walk then steers you towards the eastern coast of the North York Moors towards the North Sea where it is part of the Coast to Coast ritual to end your walk with another dip, this time in the North Sea at Robin Hoods Bay. Olde world market towns and villages await you each day at the end of your walk, with evocative names such as Grasmere — home of the poet William Wordsworth, Patterdale, Danby Wisk and Clay Bank Top.

This is a trail which bonds all walkers you meet on the path, with the chance to share your adventures in the numerous inns and pubs at the end of a tiring but rewarding days walking.
